Field Readiness: Snake Avoidance Clinic

Snake Avoidance Training

QHF Ranch Member Event in Collaboration with Florida Palmetto NAVHDA

In the field, a split-second decision can be life-altering. Venomous snake bites involve high veterinary costs and uncertain outcomes; therefore, QHF Ranch is bringing specialized training directly to the Ranch. We will host a professional clinic designed to help dogs develop the instincts necessary to recognize and avoid snakes.

While no training can offer a 100% guarantee against the unpredictability of nature, this clinic serves as a proactive step in reducing risk. Furthermore, it adds a critical layer of field protection for your dog.

Professional Field Training

Led by professional handler and animal trainer David Weathers, the clinic focuses on situational awareness. In particular, the training conditions dogs to the specific sight, scent, and sound of native snakes.

• Authentic Field Conditioning: We use live, native snakes across the Ranch’s natural terrain. As a result, the clinic replicates the true conditions your dog will face in the field.
• Hunting Scenario Focus: Incorporates gunfire and live field commands so dogs learn to stay clear of snakes even when handler reactions or field noise create distractions.
• Handler Education: Teaches handlers how to spot local venomous species and identify high-risk habitats in the field.

Open to All Member Dogs

Safety is a priority for every dog at QHF Ranch. Even though the clinic is hosted in conjunction with NAVHDA, it is open to all breeds within the club, including hunting dogs, working herders, and loyal home companions.

A Benefit of Your Membership
