At QHF Ranch safety is our utmost priority.
- Members and guests must sign a release form prior to entry and must follow QHF’s rules, regulations and guidelines. QHF will have final discretion on all decisions.
- Every hunter must abide by the laws, rules, and regulations of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
- The use of any drug, legal or illegal and alcohol, in any amount, makes a shooter less safe and is strictly forbidden. Any misuse or over indulging is considered unacceptable behavior and will result in forfeiture of fee and shall cause the hunt to be stopped immediately.
- Except during guided duck or turkey hunts, all hunters and spectators must wear blaze orange hat and blaze orange above the waist while hunting or walking in and around the hunting area.
- All shooting sports require safety glasses and ear protection.
- Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction away from people. Show that the action is open and keep your finger off the trigger until it’s time to shoot.
- The safety must remain on at all times. The only time the safety may be off is when the hunter is preparing for a shot. If there is no shot, the gun must be returned to safety on.
- Never fire your gun outside of 45 degree zone of fire area. Anything outside that area cannot be seen with reliability, and is considered outside your field of view.
- A calm shooter is a better hunter. If you’re not 100% sure of what you are shooting at, DO NOT RUSH, DO NOT TAKE THE SHOT.
- Double barrel and over and under shot guns be carried with the chamber open and resting over the forearm with barrel pointing away people and dogs.
- Hunters are asked to carefully check the gauge of shells in their vest to be certain it matches the gauge of the gun they are using.
- QHF prohibits hunters to carry shotgun in the over the shoulder position or in a suitcase carry. Absolutely no rifles are permitted at QHF.
- Hunters must always be aware of their hunting partner, guide, pointing dog and vehicles before taking a shot.
- No low shots should be taken. A low shot is defined as a shot lower than the horizontal position of the gun when mounted to the shoulder.
- Never pass or carry a loaded gun, never carry a loaded gun in a vehicle.
- Never lean a gun against a building, vehicle or tree or lay it on the ground. Unload, case or rack your gun when not in use.
- Ask for help when needed. Our professional guides are there for a reason, and that’s to help you safely enjoy and learn the sport.
